Dr. Jeffrey Cavanaugh’s journey in orthodontics began right here at Century Orthodontics—as a patient!



          As a child, he was treated by Dr. Michael Matlof and Dr. Robert Waxler, and his time in the office left such a lasting impression that he chose to pursue orthodontics as his career. He loved the energy, care, and joy that came from creating beautiful smiles, and knew he wanted to be part of it. In 1996—the year the practice turned 100—Dr. Cavanaugh became a partner, and that milestone inspired the name Century Orthodontics.

Outside the practice, Dr. Cavanaugh has been deeply involved in organized dentistry and community leadership. He served on the board of the Delta Dental Health Theatre, including two years as president, working with fellow dental professionals to provide education to children—especially those with limited access to care. He also served on the board of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation and was honored to be its president from 2007 to 2008.

         Passionate about community, Dr. Cavanaugh also served as co-president of the PTO at Fairway Elementary when the school opened in 2004, helping support families and educators during its early years.

           Dr. Cavanaugh met his wife, Linzi, in dental school. Linzi practices general dentistry in Frontenac as an associate of Dr. Doxey Sheldon. Together, they have four children:

• Margaret, a Syracuse University graduate working for Edelman in New York
• Katherine, a Columbia University graduate and current medical student at Dell Medical School – UT Austin
• Ryan, a Miami University graduate working in finance and computer science in Texas
• Joe, a TCU student also pursuing a career in finance

         When he’s not creating smiles, Dr. Cavanaugh enjoys traveling across the country to watch Joe’s soccer and lacrosse games. He also loves spending time in the yard and cheering on his favorite hometown teams—the St. Louis Cardinals, the Blues, and St. Louis City SC.
