Invisalign Teen, a great new product, has allowed us to provide the advantages of Invisalign for many of our adolescent patients

What is Invisalign:

Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable plastic shells (aligners) that no one can tell you're wearing. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective for a wide range of cases.

Century Orthodontics specializes in orthodontic treatment for all ages. Besides traditional metal and tooth colored "braces" we are particularly excited about the Invisalign technique . Invisalign, although deceptively simple (just a bunch of clear trays!), has a steep learning curve. Some problems that appear minor are not easily treated with Invisalign where other, seemingly very difficult cases are surprisingly more easily treated with Invisalign than traditional braces. Our office was one of the first in the country to offer Invisalign. We are pioneers in this breakthrough technology; providing our patients with the highest technology since its introduction in 1999.

Dr. Waxler and Dr. Cavanaugh have the expertise that comes with long experience. This experience allows us to know how to react when the teeth are not responding as expected and to "push the envelope" to treat cases with Invisalign that many otherwise expert orthodontist would require regular "braces." As a matter of fact, some of our most satisfying cases were patients who had been previously told that they were not candidates for Invisalign treatment.

This year Century Orthodontics achieved the status of an Elite Invisalign Provider. We were bestowed this privilege due to our extraordinary level of experience with Invisalign treatment based on the number of patients treated. Less that 1% of all orthodontic practices have achieved this recognition.

Why would I want it?

Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor's office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

How does it work?

You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position the doctor has prescribed. You'll visit about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 6-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 10 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

  • Most People Can Be Treated - Invisalign has demonstrated excellent results in a wide range of more complicated cases. Given our significant experience with Invisalign (hence our ELITE status)  we can treat a wider range of cases than most other orthodontic offices. If you’ve been told that Invisalign is not for you let us check you out. We have treated many patients with Invisalign who were told by other practices that they were not Invisalign candidates.
  • TeensInvisalign Teen is a great new product designed especially to deal with younger patients. It has proven to be a wonderful alternative for the teenager who does not want to wear traditional braces.
  • Experience - Dr. Waxler and Dr. Cavanaugh have enjoyed so much success with this advanced technology that we are now one of the very few Elite Invisalign Practices in the country.

Patient Testimonials

  • christa

I'm so glad I made the investment to go with aligners rather than metal braces. I've heard stories of people having food stuck in their metal braces, and I didn't want to go through that. It's so easy - all I have to do is remove my aligners when I eat.

  • martin

I wanted my teeth straighter, but I didn't want to be in pain. My aligners are so comfortable, compared to the metal braces I had when I was a kid, that sometimes I forget I have them on.

  • gina

I always wanted to have straight teeth, but never thought my smile would look this great. Plus, no one even knew when I was wearing them. I couldn't be happier!

  • alex

At first, I was skeptical about whether or not to use plastic aligners to straighten my teeth, but I am very glad I decided to make the investment. In just about nine months my teeth were straightened using the clear, comfortable, and easy-to-remove aligners. I'm a busy guy, and using Invisalign fit right into my lifestyle.

  • teresa

Everybody comments on my new smile, even when I'm wearing the aligners. Plus, I can remove them at any time, so they don't affect my lifestyle.

  • ione Ione, Age 58, Administrative Assistant

The reason I went with Invisalign is because I'm not a kid anymore. I didn't want to look like a kid with braces on, and have the hassle of keeping them clean and all that. There is a lot of work to keeping your teeth in good health when you have (traditional) braces.

  • daniel Daniel, Age 38, Chauffeur

I definitely smile a lot more. Even though I'm still in treatment, it has given me more confidence. It's given me something to look forward to. I feel good about myself. I feel good that I have taken the steps to get these braces.

  • breanna Breanna, Age 20, Waitress & Student

What I like best about Invisalign is the fact that I can take them out and floss and brush my teeth and put them back in. So it's not like I'm working around all this metal in my mouth, trying to get the toothbrush in there and floss in there.

  • gina Gina, Age 31, Analyst Relations

I would not have gone the regular braces route. The reason for that is that I am in a customer-facing position. I'm in the hi-tech industry, with a lot of people around me that are young and hip and moving and shaking. To be in management, in a hitech company with a mouthful of braces in front of customers and prospects and other executive strategic alliance partners, it just wasn't an option.

  • william William, Age 31, Investment Broker

At my age, to have the big metal train tracks in your mouth, I just figured, in person with people, I just wouldn't feel as comfortable as I would with something that was truly invisible. I really believe in the product. I'm kind of a walking, talking billboard for it.

  • vivian Vivian, Age 53, Nurse

I am absolutely, positively thrilled. The fact that I was done with it in less than a year, and really had no inconveniences whatsoever, makes me wonder why I even hesitated.

Invisalign® FAQ

photo of woman

The Invisalign system is a series of clear aligners used to straighten teeth.

Will Invisalign fit my lifestyle?

  • Time for a snack? No problem. Take out your aligners to eat or drink whenever you want.
  • Since Invisalign is virtually invisible, chances are no one will even notice anything is different, until your new smile is revealed, of course.
  • You can remove your Invisalign aligners, so you can brush and floss regularly and keep your teeth and gums healthy.
  • You can occasionally remove your Invisalign aligners and enjoy a special night out.
  • There's no need to change a thing. Continue your day-to-day activities while still straightening your teeth.
  • Be yourself with Invisalign. Since it's clear, you don't have to hide your smile while going through treatment.
  • With Invisalign, it's easy to make your smile picture perfect for that special occasion.
  • Invisalign appointments work with your schedule. Most visits are in and out, with a quick progress check once every six weeks.

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign system is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth and achieve the smile you've always wanted. Using advanced 3-D computer imaging technology, Invisalign depicts your complete treatment plan, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position. Then a series of clear aligners are custom made for your teeth - and your teeth only - to move them little by little. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series until the final position of your teeth is achieved. Your Invisalign treatment time will be determined by your doctor based on your specific needs.

What are the primary benefits of Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are clear; no one may even notice that you're wearing braces, making Invisalign a seamless fit with your lifestyle and day-to-day interactions with others. Invisalign is removable. Unlike braces, you have the flexibility to eat and drink what you want during treatment simply by removing the aligners when you eat. You can also remove the aligners to brush and floss as you normally would for fresh breath and good oral hygiene. Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign does not use metal brackets or wires that could cause irritation to your mouth. In addition, you'll spend less time in the doctor's chair and having to schedule appointments, and more time out doing the things you love. Lastly, Invisalign allows you to view your virtual results and treatment plan before you start your treatment, so that you can preview how your straight teeth will look once your treatment is complete.

How many patients are being treated with Invisalign?

More than 1,000,000 patients worldwide have been treated with Invisalign. The number of Invisalign smiles grows daily. At your next appointment, Dr. Waxler can help answer any questions you might have, and get you started on the smile you've always wanted.
